The leadership of Livingston Free Church of Scotland are committed to seeing the congregation develop spiritually and numerically: with the renovation of the church building integral to that commitment.

The refurbishment of the church should reflect the core values and the strategy for the church with Christ at the centre of what we aim to do. We should aim to create an environment for teaching and fellowship and for the individual to recognise the importance of his or her personal growth within a growing church.

In 2017 the Deacons’ Court convened a group to develop proposals for the refurbishment of the church and the grounds. The existing building requires a considerable investment to refurbish it. The church looks dated and tired. As a congregation our finances are not strong and it is very important that we continue and where possible increase our giving for the day to day work of the church. We are looking for financial assistance from the congregation and former members of the congregation to assist us to fund the commencement of the work.

The refurbishment plan at present has a number of stages for the improvement of the church. Below is a brief outline of some areas we are looking at.

The Entrance area
Ø Improved access for the prams, wheelchairs

The Sanctuary
Ø Blinds, carpets, furnishings, lighting.

Main hall, vestry and minor rooms
Ø Chairs, tables, flooring (varnish and carpets), lighting.

Ø Replace fixtures and furnishings. Improve the disabled access.

Car park
Ø Resurfacing.

Ø Lighting and carpets

Livingston Free Church is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland. We are a family orientated church which seeks to serve the community through making God known by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and living out the gospel in love to God and to our neighbours. At present, in addition to our regular Sunday Services and Wednesday midweek meeting, we run a Parent and Toddlers’ Group (Tuesday Morning) and a Celebrate Recovery Group (Tuesday Evening) for those who have addictions. Also, we help in food distribution for West Lothian Food Bank.

The purpose of the refurbishment of the church is not simply to give it a ‘fresh look’ but to encourage more of the community to use the building and the resources available. You are very welcome to find out more about this friendly congregation and what the church has to offer.
